Horsemen’s Guide To Sandy Ridge At The Red Mile 2023 Quarter Horse Meet

LEXINGTON, KY—MARCH 15, 2023—With ten-days until entries are taken for the first-day of racing in 2003 at Sandy Ridge At The Red Mile Quarter Horse Meet, StallioneSearch.com has collaborated with Sandy Ridge to formulate a Horsemen’s Guide providing valuable information for those horsemen that intend on running at the Lexington, Kentucky Quarter Horse meet April 1st thru April 6.

As an incentive for horsemen to race at the Sandy Ridge at the Red Mile Quarter Horse meet of 2023, Sandy Ridge management will be providing "free" pony services to all trainers.

Entries For The Six-Day Meet
Entries for the upcoming meet will be taken by the racing office staff at the Sandy Ridge At The Red Mile meet in Lexington, Kentucky. Here are some bullet-points of information concerning entries:

> Entries will be taken 7-days out of the intended day of racing.
   The first day of entries start on Saturday March 25th (for April 1st)
   and continue every day for six consecutive entry days.
> Telephone number to call to make an entry: (859)255-0752.
> Entries open 8am until 11:30am.
> Sandy Ridge will be using Encompass to handle entries,
   overnights, etc. Overnights will be found on Equibase.com.
> All owner transfers must be made by first day of entries--
   March 25th.
> Alternate distances and extras will be used in order to fill races
   on entry days.
> Stakes Races will give preference based on lifetime earnings.
> Mike Anifantis is the Racing Secretary for the 2023 meet
   in Lexington.

Stabling On The Backside
Horsemen who put in stall applications may contact the racing office and speak to Racing Secretary, Mike Anifantis, about stall allotment.

Horsemen still seeking to have stalls for the six-day meet who didn’t meet the deadline for stall applications should contact the racing office, as there are still stalls available.

Here are several other items of information for horsemen stabling on the backside at the Red Mile:

> There will be several vendors available for feed, hay,
   and shavings. The Lexington-area has plenty of
   options with Keeneland Racecourse within miles
   of the location.
> The backside will be open for horsemen to move their
   horses onto the property on March 25th, with the track
    opening for training the next morning on March 26th.
> Training hours will be from 6:30-10:30 every day, from
   March 26th thru closing day on Thursday April 6th.
   Barn-area closes for stabling on April 8, 2023.
> The address to Red Mile Race Track is 1200 Red Mile Rd.,
   Lexington, KY 40504.
> The stable gate is clearly marked off of Versailles Road
   in Lexington-area.
> Starting Gates for training will be up from 7:30am – 10am
   daily (subject to change).

> To obtain a sleeping room, one room-double occupancy
    is available to grooms on the trainer’s list.
> All Horses entering the Racetrack grounds must have proof
   of health certificate and required vaccinations, which s
   hall include: (1) Certificate of veterinary inspection (Health
   Certificate) within the prior 3 days; (2) Verification of
   EEE/WEE/WNV (encephalitides), rabies, and tetanus
   vaccinations within the prior 12 months; (3) Verification of
   Influenza and Rhinopneumonitis vaccinations within the
   prior 120 days; and (4) Verification of Negative Equine
   Infectious Anemia (Coggins) Test valid through the meet.
> All horses must be bedded on shavings.

Race Day Information
As indicated on the stall application for the upcoming 2023 Quarter Meet of Sandy Ridge At The Red Mile, vet-check for every day of racing is 9am (5 hours prior to  first post-time).

Here are other bits of helpful information for horsemen to know:

> IMPORTANT TO NOTE: In Kentucky, two year-olds
   and horses running in stakes races are not
   allowed to use Lasix

> There is a receiving barn available for those hauling-in to race.
> Post-time for the first race every race day is 2pm (EST)

> Licensing available at the track, as well at Kentucky Racing
   Commission website at: http://www.khrc.ky.gov

Stakes Races and Horsemen Incentives
The $45,000 Cherokee Stakes to be contested opening day, April 1 and the $45,000-added BOCO Stakes will run closing Day, April 6. Post times daily are set for 2:00 p.m. (EST).

A $50,000 "Trainer Bonus" will paid for the Quarter Horse meet as follows:

> Most Trainer Wins: 1st Place-$15,000 2nd- $10,000 3rd-$5,000
> Most Trainer Starts: 1st Place-$10,000 2nd- $6,000 3rd-$4,000

All owners who start a horse at Sandy Ridge at The Red Mile are guaranteed a minimum of $500 per start, trainers a minimum of $200 per start, plus $100 jockey mount fee per trip for those finishing out of the money.
