SAN ANTONIO, TX–MAY 7, 2024–The 2024 Retama Park Quarter Horse live racing season will commence on Thursday, June 27, 2024, with live racing set for Thursday, Friday and Saturdays at 6:30 pm (Central). The 23-day meet will conclude on Saturday, August 17.
A total of 24 stakes will be contested, highlighted by the $200,000-added Texas Quarter Horse Sale (TQHA) Futurity on Saturday, July 27. Last year, Dollar Bill, owned by Celeste Martinez, won the $700,000 TQHA Sale Futurity(RG1), which was the richest race run since the opening of the Selma, Texas racetrack in 1995. A very strong group of 3-year-olds made for an exciting edition of the $208,900 Retama Park Derby with Tic It to the Dance delivering a standout performance for his Texas owner Jose Ruiz, Jr.
Stall applications for the upcoming Retama Park Quarter Horse meet are due by Friday, May 17. The forms are available in the Retama Park racing office or can be downloaded on the Horsemen page on the track’s website.
