Wyoming Downs To Open Summer Season Under New Ownership

EVANSTON, WY–JUNE 6, 2024–Wyoming's flagship racetrack, Wyoming Downs, will open on Saturday under new ownership.

The track will conduct Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing on the weekend through August 11.

Las Vegas-based ECL Entertainment and Clairvest Group became new owners of the racetrack last month, taking over from a partnership headed by Eric Nelson for the past 11 years.

Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. (MDT), and first post is 1:05 p.m. General admission is $10; children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.

"Following up on last year’s record $2 million in purses, Wyoming Downs this year is offering $2.4 million for the upcoming meet, based on projected average daily purses of $120,000," a press release said.

The Indian Relay Championship Races are back on July 27 and 28.

The facility offers historical horse racing and simulcast wagering at its betting facilities in Evanston, Casper, Cheyenne, Evansville, Gillette, Green River, Laramie, Mills, Sheridan and Rock Springs, Thermopolis and Buffalo.

A summer events schedule can be found on the Wyoming Downs website.
