LOPE and Retama Park will team up on Saturday, July 13, to host a Youth Education Event at the racetrack near San Antonio, Texas.

SELMA, TX–JULY 5, 2024–Retama Park and LOPE Racehorse Charity will team up on July 13 to host a Youth Education Event at Retama Park.

The event is open to all K-12 students, teachers, and parents. Four-H, FFA, and Pony Club members are especially welcome.

Learning Lab for Youth (K-12) – 3 pm – 6 pm

• Demos and mini-science/veterinary lessons with track pony horses as teachers (no riding)
• Presentation of LOPE and Horse Wise teaching methods
• Extended Q&A with guest speakers, including a Texas State veterinarian, horse trainer, and outrider Julio Ochoa.
• Tour of race barn area (if weather and race schedule permits)

Night at the Races + Family Fun Night 6 pm – 9 pm

• Special Grandstand seating for LOPE guests and youth groups (including teachers and parents)
• Free tickets to watch the races
• Informal Q&A with race trainers and jockeys during the races
