The Prize Ferarri Gets Second Challenge Win In Adequan Pocatello Derby Challenge

POCATELLO, ID—JUNE 30, 2021—The Prize Ferarri was a gate-to-wire winner in the $44,320 Adequan Pocatello Derby Challenge Wednesday evening at Pocatello Downs.

Under jockey Jesus Canales, The Prize Ferarri defeated Pattys Saint by half-a-length while completing the 400 yards in :19.878 seconds, equaling a 98 speed index. The son multiple stakes winning son of The Louisiana Cartel gave trainer Mark Hanson his fourth win on Tuesday's race card.

Owned by RTM Stables, Robin Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody, The Prize Ferarri picked up $20,388 for the effort to boost his bankroll to over $71,500. A winner of six of 10 career starts, the brown gelding was bred in Oklahoma from the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize.

Bred by Weetona Stanley, The Prize Ferrari won the Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge last year.

Tonight's win also gives The Prize Ferarri a starting spot in the $150,000-est. Grade 3 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship on October 23rd during the Bank of America Challenge Championships at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Runner-up Pattys Saint earned $8,864 for finishing second. Heath Hillman trains the Idaho homebred for owner-breeder Robert Harrison. Jesus Virgen rode the multiple stakes winning daughter of Jess Got Easier from the Saint Shackleton mare Sp Saint Patty. She has earned $47,323.

Tim Parkinson Jr.'s Im Renee finished three-quarters back in third to earn $4,432. Trainer David Newbold named Nick Newbold to ride the Im Alright Now filly out of Tips Tie by White Tie.

No Hesitation, Proud Movin Renegade, Cancelled Flight, Babes Fabulous Eagle, Zoomin For Sher and Fortuens Wild Blood completed the field.
