SHAKOPEE, MN—JULY 1, 2021—Three regional Bank of America Racing Challenge stakes, headed by the 440-yard, $50,000-added Bank of America Canterbury Championship Challenge (G3), are on tap for Tuesday at Canterbury Park.

Danjer, last year’s champion aged gelding, is one of five entered in the Bank of America Canterbury Championship Challenge. A homebred 5-year-old son of champion FDD Dynasty owned by Downtime Enterprises LLC, Billy G. Smith, and trainer Dean Frey, Danjer is coming off of a neck victory in the 440-yard, $320,000 Debbie Schauf Remington Park Championship (G1) on May 29.

Danjer has won two of his three outs at Canterbury Park, including last year’s Bank of America Canterbury Championship Challenge. The gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Cody Smith.

The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments:

Also on Tuesday, seven fillies and mares, headed by defending champion Lynnder 16, are entered in the 400-yard, $30,000-added Q-Racing Video Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge (G3). Trained by Jason Olmstead for owners Tom Maher and Richard L. Tobin, Lynnder 16 has won 12 of 25 races and has earned $699,968, and his 2020 campaign included a half-length victory in the 400-yard, $102,000 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at The Downs at Albuquerque. The 5-year-old Apollitical Jess mare drew post 7 and will be ridden by Edwin Escobedo.

Ms. Esther drew the rail post for Tuesday’s 870-yard, $20,000-added AQHA Canterbury Park Distance Challenge. A 7-year-old daughter of Afrashad (TB) owned by Jordan D. Baumann, Ms. Esther is coming off of a spring campaign during which she earned $33,062 from four outs and ran third, three lengths behind winner Wascallywittlewabbit, in the 870-yard, $50,000 Remington Park Distance Championship (G1). The mare will be ridden by Andrew Samaniego for trainer Victor Hanson.
