SHELBYVILLE, IN—SEPTEMBER 14, 2020—Louisiana Lover, winner in three of four starts for 2020, and Beach Benny, winner of the $107,000 Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana (QHRAI) Stallion Service Auction (SSA) Derby in his last start, will lead the two $15,000 trials set for the upcoming Sterlie Bertram Memorial Thursday.

The final is slated for Saturday, Oct. 3 during the next all-Quarter Horse racing day at Indiana Grand.

Trained by Tony Cunningham, Beach Benny will seek to add to his career tally of three wins in 12 starts and in excess of $137,000 in earnings for owner-breeder Pam Brickley Hann.

Joining Beach Benny as a favorite in the second trial is Blue Eyed Newman from the Smith barn. Owned by breeder Gordon Timm, the Escondido Beach gelding has won two of three starts in 2020 and will break from post three at even odds with Mendez aboard.

The top 10 qualifiers of the 16 involved in the Bertram Memorial trials will advance to the final, which will sport of purse of $100,000-plus. Both the trials and the final will be contested at a distance of 400 yards. Estimated post time for the first trial Thursday is 6:30 p.m. (EDT).
