K.C. Carden Wyoming-Bred Derby Trials Set for Saturday

EVANSTON, WY—JULY 15, 2021—Shiza Queen, a multiple stakes winning Maknmoves filly owned by Pedro Mena, is one of 39 state-bred 3-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 350-yard K.C. Carden Wyoming-Bred Derby (R) trials at Wyoming Downs.

Shiza Queen has earned $15,462 from three races this season, and her two wins include a three-quarter length victory in the 350-yard, $35,000 Wyoming-Bred Derby (R) at Energy Downs on June 26. All told, the homebred filly has won four of five outs and has banked $42,216, all in Wyoming.

Shiza Queen drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jose Guzman for trainer Martha Maldonado in the second of four trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will meet in the July 31, $11,000-added K.C. Carden Wyoming-Bred Derby final.
