PHOENIX, AZ–MARCH 20 2024–Wicked Cowgirl Smart, a homebred daughter of leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 and the fastest qualifier, is one of 10 sophomores entered back in Monday's 350-yard, $65,100 Arizona QRA President's Open Spring Derby at Turf Paradise.

Trained by Leonel Gonzalez for owner J Lazy Six Racing, Wicked Cowgirl Smart made her 3-year-old season debut with a three-quarter length win in the first of three trials on February 29. The Arizona-bred filly has earned $30,287 from six races, and her three wins include a head victory in last year's 350-yard, $25,000 Fred Scane Stakes at Los Alamitos Racecourse.

Wicked Cowgirl Smart drew post 9 and will be ridden by Luis A. Valenzuela.

Other contenders include Jimenas Ranch's Dashin Hocks, a stakes-winning son of Kiss My Hocks trained by Angel Hernandez Dominguez.

Dashin Hocks is coming off of a juvenile campaign during which he banked $145,605 from seven outs, won the 350-yard, $50,000 Turkey Time Stakes (R) for Texas-breds at Lone Star Park, and ran second in the Grade 2, 300-yard Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park.
