Grade 1 Placed Jess Fire Me Retired To Lazy E Ranch In 2023

GUTHRIE, OK–NOVEMBER 17, 2022–Jess Fire Me SI 98, a Grade 1-placed son of Walk Thru Farm from the AQHA Dam of Distinction Jess Sass Me, has been retired from racing and will kick off his stallion career at Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma in 2023. His fee has been set at $2,500.

"We at Lazy E Ranch are very excited to stand a young stallion of Jess Fire Me’s credentials because horses like Jess Fire ME combine superior pedigree, conformation with depth of a superior female family," Butch Wise said this week.

"He is a striking individual who should impart balance, substance, size and early maturity to his foals. It is always significant to have a stallion prospect that proved his worth at Ruidoso in Grade 1 competition because they always seem to have a leg up in making significant contributions to the breed in terms of telegraphing their future siring success."

Owner Reliance Ranches, LLC paid $360,000 for the 3-year-old colt at the recent Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.  Raced by the partnership of Shaun Hubbard, Ray Willis and Empire Racing, Jess Fire Me won or placed in six of nine career starts while earning $242,442.

In first career start he defeated two-time champion Jess Savin Candy ($1,061,560) while setting the fastest time in the $1 million Ruidoso QH Futurity (G1). He was second by a neck in the Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) final and a finalist in the Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1).

"Lazy E Ranch have always placed great emphasis on Grade 1 races at Ruidoso Downs because they are “stallion making” races. Therefore, it is important that he exhibited his brilliance by running a very close second in the Ruidoso Futurity G1 to that year’s almost Triple Crown winner, two-time champion Jess Savin Candy."

Also in the remaining defeated Ruidoso QH Futurity field were such amazing runners as KJ Desperado, last year's All-American and Texas Classic Futurity winner and this year’s Ruidoso Derby G1 winner; 2022’s Dash For Cash Derby G2 winner Favorite Blues Man; last year’s Oklahoma Futurity G2 winner Revenant Moon, among others.

"To defeat horses of this caliber means a lot to knowledgeable breeders and buyers will respect his future prospects at the sales," Wise concluded.
