HIALEAH, FLORIDA—JANUARY 27, 2015—Nineteen-year-old trainer Anna Marie Crowson is having a brilliant time in South Florida, as she is leading the trainer standings at the Hialeah Park 2014-2015 Quarter Horse Meet heading into the month of February.

The Odessa, Texas native is winning at a lofty 28% clip, with 15 wins from 53 starts. Ms. Crowson’s runners have finished in the money 68% of the time and Crowson Racing is the leading owner in the current meet's standings thru January 26.

Already this meet, Ms. Crowson saddled the winner's of the $25,000 Orange Blossom Stakes and the $25,000 Moonstone Stakes.

The Odessa, Texas native got interested in Quarter Horse racing through the purchase of two yearlings at the Heritage Place Yearling sale in 2007 by her father and mother, Dennis and Norma Crowson.

The family-owned horses ran in Oklahoma, New Mexico under trainer Blaine Wood. One of the more well-known Crowson runners was Jess Cuervo in the later stage of his career, prior to stud. Anna Marie was the trainer for his victory in the Grade 2 Lovington Stakes at Zia Park in 2013.

“I feel I learned a lot when our horses where with Blaine,” said Anna Marie Crowson. “I paid attention to Blaine, and started to learned about conformation from him. It was very important into me developing into a trainer. From there, I began working with trainer Wendy Garcia, and jockey Modesto Pina. I learned all about the breaking of babies, as well as how to train one to the races. I had a desire to train, and just wanted to do it myself.”

At Hialeah Park, Crowson has found success in her 43-horse stable with All American Futurity winning jockey Alex Baldillez, Jr. With only 12 horses running under the Crowson family name in her barn, her outside clients are also relishing in her success thus far at the South Florida Quarter Horse racing meet.

“Anna has done a tremendous job with these horses,” say jockey Alex Baldillez. “She works as hard as any trainer on the backstretch here at Hialeah, and deserves all the success she is having right now. The horses she saddles in the afternoon are ready to run, and I am very fortunate and grateful to be their pilot.”

As for her plans after Hialeah, the 19-year-old trainer is hoping to carry her success from Florida over to New Mexico.

“I am hoping to bring a stable to Ruidoso,” said Crowson. “We only have four two year olds for the futurities, but I am looking to have a good summer. I am just going to continue to keep training, because I am loving what I am doing. Winning these races as we are in Florida makes it even that more enjoyable.”
