BOSSIER CITY, LA—MARCH 9, 2021—Louisiana-based rider, Jose A. Rodriguez, rattled off five-winners in the trials of the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG1) on Saturday (Mar 6) at Louisiana Downs.

The middle-brother of the trio of Rodriguez-brothers riding at Louisiana, Jose has become a mainstay within the Louisiana Quarter horse racing circuit for at least the last six years.

During those six years, the 29-year old rider has been gaining momentum in his own race-riding career due to the mounts he's been given from trainers like Orlando Orozco, Lanny Keith, Martin Trejo, Eddie Goutierrez, and Luis Martinez.

As Rodriguez's stock as a rider has been on the rise, he has played witness to his oldest brother, Everardo, becoming not only one of the perennial leading riders in Louisiana, but also topping the nation in wins in 2019.

With the five-win day on Sunday for Jose, two of his mounts qualified into the finals of the restricted-graded futurity in Bossier City. Rodriguez qualified the Luis Martinez-trained Goat with the fifth-fastest time in the trials, as well as Levi Mays trained Jess Dash Fast as the seventh-fastest qualifier.

Known for his work ethic around the backside of the track in Louisiana, as well as for his positive disposition, Jose Rodriguez is getting the support and mounts from Louisiana trainers that will hopefully propel him to the heighth of the standings

"Jose has always had the talent to be one of the top riders in Louisiana," said trainer Orlando Orozco. "He was just lacking the opportunity to get on better horses to find himself in the winners circle. Now that he's doing well, lots of trainers are seeing that he is such an aggressive rider that works hard in the mornings, and that he's a rider that listens."

As Rodriguez goes postward in the finals of the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) finals, he will looking to garner his third career stakes victory in his career thus far. The native of San Luis Postosi, Mexico won the 2017 and 2018 edition of the Magnolia Stakes at Harrah's Louisiana Downs.
