Stallion Triple Vodka Successfully Undergoes Leg Amputation And Prosthetic

CODY, WY—FEBRUARY 12, 2022—According to an article by Chelsa Hackbarth published earlier this week on the PaulickReport.com the 13-year-old American Quarter Horse stallion Triple Vodka in 2021 developed a septic coffin joint in his right front leg.

The bay stallion is a son of Tres Seis and out of the Stoli mare Newport Lily. Bred by K.A. Norris and Peters Racing, he won or placed in seven of eight starts and earned $224,670, including winning the TQHA Sale Futurity (RG2) and Old South Derby.

As a sire, Triple Vodka has gotten 35 winners from 66 starters and horses that have earned more than $648,000. He is enrolled in both racing and barrel racing programs for his progeny.

The stallion’s prognosis was grim, so his owner, Zerlotti Equine Reproduction, took a last-resort option to save the horse’s life by sending him to Dr. Ted Vlahos at Wyoming’s Yellowstone Equine Hospital.

The veterinarian is an industry pioneer in equine limb amputation and prosthetics, and there Triple Vodka underwent an amputation and prosthetic foot.

After recovery, he was able to return home and to the breeding shed.
