MEXICO CITY, MX–JUNE 27, 2022–The American Quarter Horse Association has confirmed that Divas First Anita lowered the 110-yard world record to :6.660 during the February 13 Francisco Pasquel Clasico at Hipodromo de Las Americas in Mexico City.
The previous 110-yard world record was set by RG Chosen Jewel in the 2021 edition of the same race; Divas First Anita lowered the record mark by more than 1/10th of a second and earned a 116 speed index.
The 4-year-old sorrel mare is bred and raced by Arturo Olvera Bernal of Cuervnavaca Morelos, Mexico. She is by the First Down Dash stallion Divas First Down and out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Julies Lil Jess. She was ridden in the race by Yair Daniel Baez and trained by Jose Norberto Bastida Diaz.
The mare has in her career won six of 12 starts, with four seconds. She has earned $99,790, and last year won the Mexico Derby (R).
