LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JULY 13, 2023—The biggest stars in the world of wiener dog racing will be in action in the 26th running of the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals on Saturday at Los Alamitos Race Course.

A total of 108 wiener dogs will be part of this extravaganza consisting of qualifying races, 10 trials, and the return of the Doxie Diaper Dash for weenie puppies.                                             

A few hours after the first wiener dog race of the night, the coveted title of Fastest Wiener in the West will be handed out.

This year’s stellar field of doxies features the return of seven of the 10 finalists from last year’s wild and crazy championship race, including the top four finishers.

Danielle Ramos’ Paisley, one of the quickest doxies in the history of this event, will look to defend her title against the likes of Cannonball Charlies and Beenie Vonweenie, who finished in a dead heat for second place last year.

Social media star Rowdy, known for her skateboarding skills, ran fourth in 2022, but has dazzled in recent practices. Rowdy is back looking to reach the podium this year.            

Total cash prizes of $2,300 will be awarded tonight and the champion will also earn a yellow and red Wienerschnitzel doghouse and a championship trophy.

The first weenie race is set for approximately 6:30 p.m. (PDT) with the championship at 9:14 p.m. 

The action promises to feature a lot of close finishes and laughter for the entire family. As usual, this event benefits the Seal Beach Animal Care Center.
