ELGIN, TX–JUNE 10, 2024–The Texas Quarter Horse Association reminds everyone that June 30th is the deadline to Texas accredit in foal broodmares for the $50 membership fee.

After June 30th, the fee will increase to $100 for current TQHA members. Therefore, if you own a broodmare that is currently in-foal and will give birth to a foal in Texas in 2025, but is not registered in the TQHA system as an accredited broodmare, make sure to complete the registration before June 30th to save $50.

Please remember the following information:Broodmares must be accredited as breeding stock with the TQHA in order to accredit their foals. Once your mare is enrolled, she is enrolled for life. There are no annual renewals. If your broodmare was already accredited, you can disregard this email.

The Texas Quarter Horse Association (TQHA) has distributed millions of dollars in bonus awards through the Accredited Texas-Bred Program. Administered by TQHA under the Texas Racing Act, the program provides cash awards to owners, breeders, and stallion owners for each Accredited Texas-Bred Quarter Horse that finishes first, second, or third in a Texas pari-mutuel race. It's important to note that stakes races restricted to accredited Texas-breds are not included in this program.

All accredited Texas-bred yearlings can be consigned to the annual TQHA Yearling Sale, which takes place in San Antonio, Texas during the last weekend of July. Any accredited Texas-bred yearlings that are sold at the TQHA Yearling Sale are eligible to participate in the TQHA Yearling Sale Futurity. This event is estimated to have a payout of $700,000 in 2024.

The Accredited Texas Bred Awards Program distributes approximately $1 million each year. According to the Texas Racing Act, on every racing day, an association (track) must hold at least two races specifically for Accredited Texas-Bred horses, with one race restricted to maiden horses.
