Abel Lara scored his first victory aboard Jesses Dinero in a $21,000 Optional Claiming at Turf Paradise on Wednesday.

PHOENIX, AZ–DECEMBER 18, 2024–Jockey Abel Lara celebrates his first career win aboard Jesses Dinero at Turf Paradise on Wednesday afternoon.

Trainer Fernando Carrete named Abel Lara to ride the five-year-old son of First Moonflash for owner L O S, LLC in a $21,000 Optional Claiming. The duo led the 400-yard race from gate to wire, clocking a 99-speed index in 19.740 seconds and defeating Baylor by a neck.

Lara just started riding at Turf Paradise in December of this year. Today's victory marked his seventh career mount and the winning effort added $12,600 to his total lifetime earnings.

The young rider placed second aboard Heros Tribute and third on Caporal Runaway and Featured Rime earlier this month.

His next mount will be on Thursday, December 19th, riding Ac Express Effort for owners Cordova Racing, LLC in a $17,000 Maiden at Turf Paradise.
