Horse Racing Alberta Announces Race Dates for 2025

EDMONTON, ALB–DECEMBER 19, 2024–Horse Racing Alberta (HRA) is pleased to announce the live race date schedule for 2025. Please note that the Race Day Calendar and post times are subject to change periodically. Please consult the HRA website for the updated schedule.

Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, Edmonton

Standardbred Racing at Century Mile continues from January 4th until February 14th on Wednesdays and Saturdays for a total of 13 race days.

Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing begins at Century Mile on May 2nd and will end on September 13th for a total of 42 race days.

The Standardbreds return to Edmonton from September 24th until December 31st for a total of 28 race days.

Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, Calgary

Standardbred Racing resumes on March 29th after a short break and continues until August 30th, for a total of 45 race days.

Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing continues at Century Downs from September 20th and will end on November 1st for a total of 14 race days.

Rocky Mountain Turf Club, Lethbridge

Rocky Mountain Turf Club will host 32 days of racing in 2025. The Spring Meet begins on May 3rd and runs until June 29th. The Fall Meet begins on August 31st for the Labour Day weekend, with racing wrapping up on Thanksgiving Day, October 13th.

Evergreen Park, Grande Prairie

Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie will host 16 days of Thoroughbred racing starting on July 6th, running every weekend until August 24th.

Track On 2, Lacombe

The Track on 2 in Lacombe will conduct 16 days of exciting Standardbred Racing from July 20th through September 21st. The action-packed schedule includes races on Sundays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and a special Monday event on September 1st.

Millarville Agriculture Society, Millarville

The historical 50-year tradition of racing on Canada Day continues on Tuesday, July 1st with exciting flat racing and a variety of family-friendly festivities.

Spring Training for Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses begins Saturday, March 1st and runs through May 1st. For a stall application or more information on Spring Training, please contact the Century Mile Race Office at raceoffice@cnty.com

Horse Racing Alberta recently announced a significant increase of 7.38% in 2025 purses, bringing the total to an impressive $16 million shared across all breeds. This boost underscores Alberta’s commitment to supporting the racing industry and its participants. Outside of Ontario, Alberta continues to maintain the most lucrative purse structure in Canada, offering substantial opportunities for Thoroughbred, Standardbred, and Quarter Horse racehorse owners and trainers.
