AJAX DOWNS, ON–JUNE 15, 2025–Canada's winningest Quarter Horse jockey, Brian Bell, recorded the 800th victory of his career on Sunday afternoon at Ajax Downs, guiding Maryland Magic to a decisive win in the final race of the Father’s Day card.

The landmark victory came in Race 8, a 300-yard Speed Index dash for older horses. Bell and Maryland Magic broke sharply and powered away from the field, stopping the clock in 15.773 seconds to post an 85 speed index over a fast track.

"I want to thank everyone who came out today," said Bell. "It was a rough start, and Maryland Magic was my last shot today and he came through for me."

This milestone caps off an early-season goal for Bell, who entered the 2025 meet just nine wins shy of the 800 mark. The 2024 High Point Jockey at Ajax Downs, Bell began his 25th year in the saddle on Wednesday, May 14, the second day of the current meet.

With more than half a dozen riding titles to his name and now over 800 wins, Bell has solidified his place as the most successful Quarter Horse jockey in Canadian history.

While Sunday’s card also featured the $30,000 Norman Picov Maturity, it was Bell’s personal achievement that left a lasting impression on fans and horsemen alike as the last race of the day. The win aboard Maryland Magic, trained by Jason Pascoe for Milena Kwiecien, served as a fitting tribute to Bell’s longevity, professionalism, and elite standing in the sport.
