BOSSIER, LA—JANUARY 11, 2026–Louisiana Downs will get the 2026 Quarter Horse season rolling, with their meet set to open tomorrow, Monday, January 12. And right behind that opening bell, the first juveniles of the season are lining up to show what they’ve got.
The schooling races are scheduled for Friday, February 6, beginning at 11:00 a.m., and they will feature two-year-olds preparing for both the Louisiana Downs Futurity and the Mardi Gras Futurity. StallioneSearch.com will cover the schooling races with full details, including names, times, finishes, sire, dam, sale price, owner, trainer and jockey, providing an early read on the freshman class before the stakes races comes into focus.
The Louisiana Downs 2026 Quarter Horse meet will run through March 28. Racing will be conducted every Monday and Tuesday through February 24, then Thursday through Saturday throughout March. Post time is 1:35 p.m. daily unless otherwise noted.
Stakes trials and finals for the meet are as follows, with post times and purses to be determined by number of entries: February 24 – Maiden Classic Trials; March 5 – Mardi Gras Oaks and Mardi Gras Derby Trials; March 6 – Louisiana Downs Futurity Trials; March 7 – Mardi Gras Futurity Trials; March 21 – Maiden Classic; March 27 – Mardi Gras Oaks; March 27 – Mardi Gras Derby; March 28 – Louisiana Downs Futurity; March 28 – Mardi Gras Futurity.
LOUISIANA DOWNS MAIDEN CLASSIC FINAL PAYMENT DUE
Second and final payment of $750 for the $125,000 Louisiana Downs Maiden Classic are due February 6, 2026. The 350-yard race is open to three-year-olds and up who are maidens as of December 1, 2025.
Trials will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026, with finals set for Saturday, March 21, 2026. CLICK HERE to complete the entry form. $3,000 supplemental nominations are due at time of entry on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
