VENTRESS, LA, MARCH 6 ,2026–Prominent Louisiana Quarter Horse breeders J.E. Jumonville Jr. and Bunny Jumonville received recognition in the Thoroughbred ranks after being named the 2025 Louisiana High Percentage Breeders by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
The Jumonvilles earned the distinction with 34 percent stakes winners from starters, with a minimum of five starters, according to the LTBA announcement.
“We were just notified about this,” said J.E. Jumonville Jr. “God is good. What a blessing.”
The association also revealed its full slate of 2025 champions, led by Touchuponastar, who was voted the state’s Horse of the Year by the LTBA Board of Directors. Touchuponastar also earned the title of Four-Year-Old and Up Male Champion.
Division champions included Our Moneyman as Two-Year-Old Colt or Gelding Champion, while Little Miss Curlin was named Two-Year-Old Filly Champion. Smoken Wicked captured honors as Three-Year-Old Colt or Gelding Champion, and Secret Faith was selected as Three-Year-Old Filly Champion. In the older female division, Free Like a Girl was recognized as Four-Year-Old and Up Filly and Mare Champion.
St. Jean was named Broodmare of the Year, and Coteau Grove Farms earned the title of Breeder of the Year, which is determined by the amount of breeders’ awards earned during the calendar year.
Veteran Louisiana sire Star Guitar was honored as 2025 Stallion of the Year, with his progeny earning more than any other stallion standing in the state.
The LTBA plans to present the awards at its annual awards banquet held in conjunction with the R.E.A.P. benefit. The event is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 1, 2026, at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, Louisiana.
