This is your chance! The AQHA Youth Racing Experience provides a firsthand opportunity for youth to dive into the American Quarter Horse racing industry.

AMARILLO, TX–MAY 19, 2026–The AQHA Youth Racing Experience is held in conjunction with the AQHA Bank of America Challenge Championship each year.

The 2026 event  will be held from October 15-18 at The Downs Racetrack & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

AQHYA members gain firsthand insight into the racing industry, while competing for a share of over $11,000 in scholarship awards.

A total of eight youth will be selected to participate in the AQHA Youth Racing Experience. Four youth will be selected as at-large participants through an application, and four youth will be selected as regional racing experience participants.  If either selection section does not meet the number of participants allowed, the remaining slots will be made available to the other section.

3. Experience Racing: Whether you know racing or are completely new to it, you’ll immerse yourself in the sport - from watching the sun rise over the shedrow and hearing the rhythm of morning training to feeling the thunder of horses racing toward the finish line.
4. Learn and Earn: Racing is one of the largest sectors of the horse industry, and this is your chance to experience it firsthand. Learn how horses are cared for and trained, understand the purpose and strategy behind racing, and gain insight into the business side that keeps the sport safe and successful. Participants can also earn scholarships and have opportunities to win money to help with college expenses.
