CYPRESS, CA–MAY 23, 2026–Los Alamitos Race Course has canceled tonight’s eight-race program in solidarity with the state of emergency declared in Orange County, following a chemical incident in the nearby city of Garden Grove, California. This is a precautionary measure taken in an abundance of caution. Consequently, Los Alamitos has also closed its facility for simulcasting for the remainder of the day.
The track’s parking lot is currently being utilized as a staging area by the Orange County Fire Authority and other first responders. All wagers made on this evening’s racing program, including simulcast races, will be fully refunded.
“We have many patrons and employees who reside in the evacuation zone, and we want to do everything possible to support our community,” said Cathy Allred, president of Los Alamitos Race Course.
More information regarding the remainder of the racing weekend will be shared as soon as it becomes official. For further inquiries, please email larace@losalamitos.com.
