Paul Jones is the all-time leading trainer in American Quarter Horse racing. He has conditioned the earners of more than $74.4 million and came into the trials having sent out 3,761 winners from 20,174 starts. Jones has won the Blane Schvaneveldt Champion Trainer award 12 consecutive times – every year since 2002 – and now is tied with the award’s namesake who won it consecutively from 1985 through 1996. Jones has won the All American Futurity (G1) three times, with Teller Cartel in 2005, No Secrets Here in 2006 and Runnning Brook Gal in 2009. He won the All American Derby (G1) twice, the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1) twice, and the Champion Of Champions (G1) six times.

Paul Jones put Ramon Sanchez aboard champion Runnning Brook Gal to win the 2009 All American Futurity. Since 1999, Sanchez has ridden the winners of 1,591 races and the earners of more than $30.1 million from 8.982 races. Last year, Sanchez won Grade 1 races aboard Llano Teller in the All American Derby; I Like The Odds in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity; Separate Fire in the Ed Burke Million and Kindergarten futurities; Favorite Cartel in the Bank of America Challenge Championship; Feature Honor in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship; and Stylish Jess BR in the Charger Bar Handicap.

Separate Fire - Separate Fire has the chance to become the first horse to win the $1,000,000 Los Alamitos Cash Bonanza, the track’s version of the Triple Crown, after posting the ninth-fastest qualifying time. Separate Fire also posted the ninth-fastest time to the Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) before returning to win the June 26 final. Also the winner of the May 22 Kindergarten Futurity (G1), the daughter of Walk Thru Fire will earn a $1,000,000 bonus if she goes on to win the Golden State and the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1).
