Hit It Big - Bred by Dr. Ed Allred, Hit It Big’s immediate family has seen much success at Los Alamitos, and the colt’s connections hope he follows in their footsteps. The most inexperienced of the field with only three starts under his belt, Hit It Big won his first two starts at Los Alamitos, although he was disqualified to fifth in his first start for interference. He finished second, a nose back, to Eye On Corona in his Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity trial. Hit It Big was a $100,000 purchase at the 2010 Los Alamitos Equine Sale.
Allred has bred the winners of 2,876 races from 18,153 starts, including 192 stakes wins. Horses he has bred have earned more than $33.5 million. Their ranks include champions Freaky, Catchmeinyourdreams, Hawkish, Hawkinson, Way Maker and Separatist. Dr. Allred, who has 10 times been the sport’s champion breeder, plus one nod shared with Spencer Childers, owns Los Alamitos Race Course, as well as the Rolling A Ranch at Atascadero, California.
Walk Thru Fire was a Grade 1-qualifier during his racing career but is making his mark in the history books as a sire. A product of the magical First Down Dash-Beduino (TB) cross, he is a son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash out of the Beduino (TB) mare Sweet Beduino. From his first crop to race, he got champion Higher Fire ($1,314,742) and Grade 1 winner Gold Nugget Rd ($122,543).
From seven crops to race, he has 208 winners and 38 stakes winners from 322 starters. His get have earned more than $11.1 million, and he is also the sire of champion Pink Boots RM. Walk Thru Fire is this year’s leading sire by money earned, with $3.4 million. The 14-year-old stallion is owned by Dr. Ed Allred and Mike Abraham and stands at Dr. Steve and Jo Burns' Burns Ranch at Menifee, California.
Hit It Big's dam is the Chicks Beduino mare Chickasis, stakes-placed on the track and has producer of 17 winners and three stakes winners from 21 starters. They include Hit It Big’s full brother, Restricted Grade 1 winner Hot Hitter ($501,952), and half brother and Restricted Grade 1 winner Hard Hitting (by Tr Dasher, $358,923) and Grade 1-placed Lassen County (by Pritzi Dash, $146,229) as well as the Raise A Secret mare Chickasecret, who produced world champion Freaky (by Tr Dasher, $975,722). |
