GILETTE, WY–JUNE 21, 2025–Energy Downs 307 Racing will host its signature juvenile event on Sunday, June 22, with a talented cast of 2-year-old Quarter Horses contesting the $245,800 Energy Downs Futurity.
Slated as Race 6 on the card, the 300-yard dash carries a scheduled post time of 3:35 p.m. (MDT).
Leading the field as the 7-2 morning-line favorite is Billys Brandi, a homebred sorrel gelding by first-crop sire Cyber Monday out of Ec Brandi by Hes Relentless for owner-breeder Bill Doenz.
Trained by Josh Taylor and piloted by champion jockey James Flores, Billys Brandi has already captured two of three starts. He was an emphatic winner in his trial on June 1, posting an 101 speed index and drawing clear by daylight.
Previously, he finished fourth in the $100,000 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Juvenile in April after breaking his maiden in a trial win on April 4 at Remington. A versatile runner on both fast and wet tracks, he looks to maintain his upward trajectory here. He has earned $20,200.
Second choice at 4-1 is Cowboy Candy 123, a $57,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate. The Texas-bred daughter of leading third-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123 and Favorite Candy by Good Reason SA is owned by Karla Diaz Gomez and Oscar Diaz Moreno.
Trainer Javier Fuentes sends her out off a sharp trial win on June 1, where she registered an 102 speed index under David Alvarez Jr. The filly displayed early speed and kicked away to a half-length score. Though unplaced in her debut at SunRay Park, her Energy Downs performance confirmed her promise. Stanley Forbes is the breeder.
Also in the mix is Innocent Down Perry (9-2), a Louisiana-bred filly by Hes Innocent out of Corona Down Perry by Coronas Leaving You bred by Grant Farms LLC.
Acquired for $17,000 at Heritage Place September Yearling Sale, she represents Dewey Kendrick III and is trained by Joe M. Davis, who wins at a 53% clip this meet. Jockey Edwin G. Escobedo was aboard when she edged out Deja Dulce in her June 1 trial with a 101 speed index, rebounding from a pair of tough losses at Remington Park. She's never been off the board in five starts and owns one win.
Rounding out the top quartet is Flashing Lights (9-2), a consistent Louisiana-bred filly by The Marfa Lights and Cara Cara by Teller Cartel, bred by Paris Wixon.
She’s owned by Giovanni Ortiz and trained by Jose F. Rivas Guzman. Under Minor Arana, Flashing Lights wired her trial field on June 1 in 15.306 with a 102 speed index. She was also narrowly third in the $97,000 Beehive Futurity at Weber Downs, proving her class and competitive edge. She has earned $14,706.
The field also includes trial runners-up and competitive allowance types, but all eyes will be on this talented quartet to see who can make the leap to stakes-winning status in one of Wyoming's richest juvenile events.
