RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–AUGUST 31, 2024–Enforce, a brother to five Grade 1 runners, capped off the 2024 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale as the closing session sale-topper on Saturday bringing a final bid of $675,000.
The All American Ruidoso Horse Sales, LLC reported gross receipts of $26,154,000 for 314 horses sold from 384 head that passed through the ring for an average of $82,293, a 4% increase over $79,735 in 2023. The median bumped $50,500 from $50,000 last year.
"What a remarkable sale," Ruidoso Horse Sale Manager Walt Wiggins said late Saturday. "After the summer we've experienced, in the days leading up to both sales, we never imagined it could have been so strong. We want to thank all our consignors and wish the buyers 'best racing luck' with their purchases."
West Texas Racing Partners paid $675,000 for the sale-topper, Hip #244 Enforce, a colt by leading sire Favorite Cartel from the Corona Cartel mare Remember Me Rose. Burns Ranch, Agent consigned the full brother to Champion Cyber Attack and Grade 1 winners Bomb Cyclone, Powerful Favorite, Runforyoulife and Cyber Monday.
Hip #234 Lookatme Z, a half-sister to Ruidoso Triple Crown hopeful Hezgothelook Z was the second high seller on Saturday for $350,000. Triple One Ranch, LLC, owners of Hezgothelook Z, purchased the Apollitical Jess filly out of Shezgothelook, by FDD Dynasty from Robicheaux Ranch Inc., Agent for Slash Z Quarter Horses.
Hezgothelook Z won the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity and the $1 million Rainbow Futurity earlier this year. He races next as the morning-line favorite in Monday's $3 million All American Futurity (G1) at The Downs at Albuquerque.
Dennis Dreier paid $320,000 for the third high-seller, Hip 325 Dr A Sin City. Dunn Ranch consigned the A Revenant colt out of Send City, by Tres Seis. The colt is a half-brother to two-time Champion of Champions(G1) winner Apolitical Pence.
Gael Garza was the sale's leading buyer with six purchases totaling $1,467,000. West Texas Racing Partners signed for five head totaling $1,226,000. La Feliz Montana Ranch, LLC paid $896,000 for eight yearlings.
Robicheaux Ranch Inc., Agent was the leading consignor and/or agent with 33 yearlings bringing gross receipts of $2,591,000. Burns Ranch, Agent sold 19 head for $2,195,000, and MJ Farms, Agent had 16 yearlings total $1,987,000.
Eye Am King was the leading sale sire (by average with two or more head sold) with four yearlings averaging $167,000. Favorite Cartel sold 43 yearlings for a $142,419 average, and Flying Cowboy 123 had 23 yearlings average $138,391.
