KINDER, LA—AUGUST 1, 2026—The 2026 LQHBA Yearling Sale concluded Saturday at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana, with buyers demonstrating continued confidence in the Louisiana-bred Quarter Horse market, pushing both the average and median prices significantly higher despite a smaller catalog than one year ago.

Over the two-day sale, 329 yearlings sold from 425 offered, generating gross receipts of $6,210,700. While the gross was down from the 2025 sale and the number of horses offered and sold declined, the market remained strong, with the average price climbing 11.7 percent to $18,878, up from $16,905 a year ago. The median also posted an impressive 27.3 percent increase, rising from $11,000 in 2025 to $14,000 this year.

"The quality of this year's offering continued to attract serious buyers, and we're extremely pleased to see such strong increases in both the average and median prices," said Misty Coats, Executive Director of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association. "While we cataloged fewer yearlings than last year, demand for quality Louisiana-breds remained very competitive. We sincerely appreciate our breeders, consignors, buyers, and everyone who helped make this year's sale another success. Their continued investment in Louisiana Quarter Horse racing is what keeps this program among the strongest in the nation."

Saturday's session was highlighted by Hip 430, Pegasus SC, a colt by leading sire Kvn Corona out of the Captain Courage mare Grey Daze, who topped the second day at $252,000. Consigned by Damian Trahan, Agent, the colt was purchased by Watson Land & Cattle - Keith Nelson. Pegasus SC is a half-brother to Dash For Cash Juvenile winner Grey Daze.

The second-highest seller on Day 2 was Hip 416, RF A Faster Train, a colt by Freighttrain B from the Heza Fast Dash mare Fast Dash N Deb. Consigned by S & E Sales Prepping LLC, Agent for Rogers Farm/Tim & Jennie Rogers, the colt brought $132,000 from Daniel Miranda. Rf A Faster Train is a brother to Lassie Futurity(RG2) winner Rf Fast Dash N Train.

Rounding out the day's top three was Hip 234, Shine On B, another son of Freighttrain B from the Mr Piloto mare Shine On Piloto, a sister to LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity(RG1) winner Mpshinning. Consigned by Grant Farms LLC, the colt was purchased by Jerry Deville Jr. for $90,000.

Jerry Deville Jr. finished as the sale's leading buyer, purchasing 14 yearlings for $632,000. Watson Land & Cattle - Keith Nelson ranked second after acquiring the sale-topper for $252,000, while Lil Dog Racing Inc. purchased six yearlings totaling $245,000.

Among consignors, Robicheaux Ranch Inc., Agent led all sellers with 27 head grossing $763,500. Grant Farms LLC followed closely with 27 yearlings totaling $688,000, while Damian Trahan, Agent, sold seven yearlings for $362,000. Tate Farms LLC, Agent, rounded out the top four consignors with 27 yearlings bringing $302,100.

On the sire lists, Kvn Corona led all stallions by average (minimum two sold), averaging $38,773 on 33 yearlings sold. Gold Heart Eagle V ranked second with an average of $35,100 from 15 sold, while perennial leading sire Freighttrain B averaged $33,683 on 41 yearlings sold.

Among first-crop sale sires, Dasha Good Reason topped the averages with 11 yearlings averaging $14,773.

All yearlings sold during the LQHBA Yearling Sale are eligible to compete in the rich 2027 LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1), one of the nation's premier restricted futurities.
