RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 15, 2026—The 2026 New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale concluded at Ruidoso Downs with increased participation and three six-figure yearlings highlighting the marketplace, led by a $180,000 son of Eye Am King.

A total of 198 yearlings were offered during the sale, with 153 changing hands for gross receipts of $3,313,700, an average of $21,658 and a median of $10,500.

The number of yearlings offered increased from 187 in 2025 to 198 this year, while the number sold rose from 146 to 153.

"With more yearlings offered and sold than last year, the 2026 New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale again provided an active marketplace for the state's breeding program," Walt Wiggins, Ruidoso Horse Sale Company manager said. "While the overall financial figures settled below last year's particularly strong results, demand at the upper end remained evident, with three yearlings reaching six figures."

Although the 2026 gross, average and median finished below last year's levels, buyers remained active throughout the catalog, purchasing seven more yearlings than a year ago and producing three six-figure transactions at the top of the market.

Eye Am King was responsible for all three of the sale's highest-priced yearlings, headed by Hip 142, Double Pour, a yearling gelding out of the Dash Ta Fame mare Tangled Vines.

Consigned by MJ Farms, Agent, Double Pour brought a sale-topping $180,000 from CHR Racing.

The second-highest price was $165,000 for Hip 211, Good King, another gelding by Eye Am King. Out of the Pappasito mare Start Somethin Bad and also consigned by MJ Farms, Agent, Good King was purchased by Clint Fuller.

Eye Am King completed a sweep of the sale's top three prices with Hip 266, Felinah, a filly out of Woodys Copy Cat, by Woodbridge. Consigned by MJ Farms, Agent, the filly brought $110,000 from Kimmie Middleton.

Tod Bradley finished as the sale's leading buyer by gross, purchasing three yearlings for a combined $215,000. CHR Racing followed with its $180,000 purchase of Double Pour, while Clint Fuller purchased Good King for $165,000.

MJ Farms, Agent led all consignors and agents by a wide margin, selling 32 yearlings for $1,822,000. La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC sold 38 yearlings for $387,500, while Mike Logan, Agent sold 11 head totaling $189,500.

Eye Am King's strong showing among the sale's highest-priced offerings also carried over to the leading sire standings. Among stallions with two or more yearlings sold, Eye Am King led the sale with 33 yearlings averaging $44,470. Elmer was second with three yearlings averaging $31,333, followed by Big Daddy Cartel, whose 32 yearlings averaged $30,866.
