JEROME ID–JUNE 4, 2023–With a good start under jockey Oscar Villa, Seperate Kisses rolled to a 3-1/4 length trial win today at the Jerome County Fair while setting the fastest qualifying time for the Roche Equine Futurity .
The eight fastest qualifiers, from three trials contested today, will return to the Jerome County Fair on Sunday, June 18 to vie for the winner's share of $22,000-est. purse going 350 yards.
Conditioned by trainer Ramiro Fregoso, Separate Kisses completed her task in :18.177 seconds, an 87 speed index into a 10 mph crosswind, to secure the top mark for owner-breeder Five Livestock Company, LLC.
The two-time Idaho-bred winning filly broke her maiden at Pocatello Downs in her last out May 21. Prior to that she finished third in a trial for the Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity(G2) and fourth in her career debut, a maiden at Los Alamitos Race Couse. She has earned $4,455.
Lc Iona Cartel, a son of leading sire Ivory James, broke his maiden in the last trial to get the second fastest clocking of :18.292, an 83 speed index. With a late surge, under jockey Oscar Villa, the Idaho-bred gelding defeated Walk Thru by a head.
Second in the Pocatello Downs Spring Futurity Consolation (not black type) in his last start, Lc Iona Cartel races for owner-breeder Larry Chapple and is trained by Ramiro Fregoso.
M E Jessie Relent scored his first win in the opening trial to secure the fourth fastest time of :18.457 seconds after an impressive 2-1/4 length win under jockey Eric Ayala.
Trainer Jarret Mills conditions the Idaho homebred for owner-breeders Dave Merritt and Kim Newsom. M E Jessie Relent is by All American Futurity(G1) sire Hes Relentless from the One Sweet Jess mare Kool Sweet Jess.
