Just En King Gets Second Stakes VIctory This Season In Zia Stakes [RG2]

RUIDOSO, NM–JULY 20, 2024–Jacob Enriquez piloted Just En King to his second stakes victory of the year in the $50,000 Zia Stakes [RG2] at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday.

As the second favorite, Just En King's victory paid $6.00 to win on 2/1 odds. The four-year-old gelding clocked an 84 speed index in :19.910 seconds, defeating Rc Corona King, ridden by Sergio Dominguez, by a neck. Doing Something Good came in third under the guidance of Noe Garcia Jr, and the favorite Pick Your Pour was fourth.

Coming off a second-place finish in the Jess Burner Stakes last month, Just En King won his first out of the season in the Jimmy Drakes Stakes [G3]. The five-time winning son of leading third-year-sire Eye Am King also won the Namehimastreaker NM Classic Cup Championship Stakes [G1] in 2023. The $30,000 winner's share of the Zia Stakes purse increases his lifetime earnings to $337,073.

Ronald Ulibarri owns and bred Jes En Kin in New Mexico out of the Furyofthewind mare U R A Fury Lady. Tony Lello trains him.

Gerardo Quinonez saddled runner-up Doing Something Good for owner Jose Riojas. This year's Grade 3 West Texas Maturity winner has earned $187,720 with a record of 3-4-3 from 16 starts. He has earned black type status five times in his career.

Baldemar Parra bred the four-year-old son of Eye Am King in New Mexico out of Classyoddsofdeefirst by Deefirst.

Trained by Fred Danley, third-place finisher Doing Something Good, and is owned by J and SM, Inc. The four-year-old gelding has five career wins with $368,681 in the bank, including last year's Zia Derby [G2]. MJ Farms bred the $110,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate out of Start Somethin Bad by Pappasito.

Pick Your Pour, Cruzin For Chickz, Fast Flashn, Fs Power Maxx, Chi Chi Jima Raider, White Lightenin and Jesses Dinero complete the field. River Flash was scratched.
