Rf Lives Buckshot Wins $20,000 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile

TULSA, OK–JULY 20, 2024–In a solid effort Rf Livies Buckshot raced to his first career stakes win Saturday at Fair Meadows by defeating Turnpike Princess by half-a-length in the $20,000 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile.

Jockey Jesus Salazar rode the 2-year-old colt to an 18.004, clocking over 350 yards, equaling an 87-speed index into a 7 mph crosswind. It was the second career win in six starts for the son of world champion Painted Turnpike. The $7,600 winner's purse boosted Rf Livies Buckshot's earnings to $24,353.

Leading trainer Dee Keener saddled the colt for owner 918 Bloodstock. Marvin and Pam Wilcox bred Rf Livies Buckshot in Oklahoma from the Desirio mare Rf Livies Special.

Turnpike Princess, an Oklahoma homebred daughter of Paint Turnpike, earned $3,400 for second. Luis Villafranco saddled the filly for owner-breeders Charles and Elizabeth Horton. Third in the Tulsa State Fair Stakes on June 22, Turnpike Princess has earned over $17,000 in six starts this year. She is out of the Barracuda mare Lone Oak Queen.

Big Beautiful Bertha finished a neck back to earn $2,200 for third. Jockey Salvador Martinez had the riding call for owner-breeders Dan and Kaye Jones and trainer Matt Whitekiller. The daughter of leading sire Crm Livewire, from the Second Painted Sign mare Lindys Sign, was making only her third career start.

El Kicken Cowboy, Mh Cold Nights, It Takes A Village, Valiant Fury, Wf Jess Candy, Rp Ray On Fire, and Turnpike Special D completed the field.
