Mardi Gras Futurity Winner Scores In De Saix Stakes at Fair Grounds On Friday

NEW ORLEANS, LA–SEPTEMBER 13, 2024–He Bold As Corona, winner of the 2024 Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) in March, got his second career stakes victory today at Fair Grounds Race Course when he defeated Jj Jessa Dynasty by a head in the $40,000 De Saix Stakes.

Under jockey Rolando Cabrera, Hes Bold As Corona took over midway while completing the 330 yards in 16.645 seconds, equaling a 95-speed index into a 10 mph crosswind. The $30,000 winner's purse boosted the gelding's earnings to $253,627.

Guillermo Martinez conditions the son of champion sire Coronas Leaving You for owners M and M Stables LLC. Salvador Olmeda bred Hes Bold As Corona in Louisiana from the Desirio mare Shes Bold As Bold.

Runner-up Jj Jessa Dynasty earned $8,000 for finishing second. Trainer Jose Carrizales named jockey Ricardo Hernandez, Jr. to ride the daughter of Jj Jess An Meteorite for himself and Jorge Alan Bazaldua, Jr. J & J Stables LLC bred the gray filly from the FDD Dynasty mare Jb Chic Dynasty. She has earned $25,320 in six starts.

Lightly raced Flyinbayou finished three-quarters back to earn $5,500 for third.  Trainer Vann Haywood saddled the daughter of first-crop sire Gold Heart Eagle V for owner Pete Dartez. Bred in Louisiana by Lester Colomb, Jr., from the Mr Jess Perry mare La Dona Cartel, Flyinbayou has earned $36,400 in four starts. Yaidel Rodriguez had the riding call aboard the two-time winner.

G Amtrack B, Rf Imperial Choice, Paint Me Onis, San Lorenzo Patrona, D Queen Of Queens, and Rf Fast Dash N Train completed the field. Always Me was scratched.
