ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 13, 2024—Deutsch, a multiple stakes winning son of One Fabulous Eagle, nailed Dickey Bob at the wire Friday night to win the $30,000 Prairie Dash Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

Deutsch hopped at the start under jockey Storm Smith but vied gamely to catch the multiple stakes winner Dickey Bob at the wire, denying him his 31st career win.  Deutsch completed the 300 yards in 15.612 seconds, equaling an 89-speed index.

Owner, trainer, and breeder Patrick Swan saddled the 5-year-old Oklahoma-bred to his seventh win in 22 starts. The $16,200 winner's purse boosted his earnings to $130,817.

Bred from the Fredricksburg mare Hollie Jollie, Deutsch won the Valley Junction Juvenile Stakes at Prairie Meadows in 2021.

Runner-up Dickey Bob led early under jockey Ramiro Garcia but settled for second place valued at $6,000. Jason Olmstead trains the Apollitical Jess, a 9-year-old, for owner-breeder Lunderborg LLC. Bred from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Paint No More, Dickey Bob has banked nearly $500,000 in 64 career starts.

Leto Land and Cattle LLC's Cinnamon Innocence finished three-quarters back to earn $3,600 for third.  Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill named jockey Angel Ramirez to ride the Ice On Fire V filly from the Fly Jess Fly mare Jess Fly Ryon. Leticia Anaya Franco bred the gray filly in Oklahoma. She has earned $24,731.

Rider Stone and Like Tequila Does completed the field.
