Favorite Buddy Bc Gets Second Black Type Win In Mike Lipp Memorial Futurity at Sweetwater Downs

ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 14, 2024–Wyoming Downs Futurity winner Favorite Buddy Bc got his second stakes victory today while destroying the $85,150 Mike Lipp Memorial Futurity field at Sweetwater Downs.

Ridden by jockey Jesus Canales, Favorite Buddy Bc led from gate-to-wire as he posted a 1-3/4 length winning margin. The fastest qualifier returned to complete the 300 yards in 15.194 seconds, equaling a 107 speed index.

Trainer Sergio Canales saddled the son of third-crop sire Flay to his fifth career win in six starts for owner-breeder Ben McKinney.  Bred in Utah from the Class Jump mare Classic Pearl Bc, Favorite Buddy Bc was also third in the Beehive Futurity last April. Today, the $34,391 winner's purse pushed his earnings to $143,062.

Banquet, a 2-year-old Wyoming-bred daughter of Flay, earned $17,361 for finishing second. Owner-trainer Aldo Pinela named jockey Brayan Juarez to ride the brown filly out of Bouquet by Walk Thru Fire. Chuck and Erica Dae Jaure bred the $30961 earner.

BDS Performance Horses' Kcross Comin In Hot finished half-a-length back to earn $8,846 for third. Skyler Greene trains the Rgr Jungle Jock gelding from the My Special Bear mare Caseys Six Pick. Wagonhammer Ranch bred the $22,556 earner in Wyoming.

Special Buddy Bc, Vvr Canella Velvet, Bv Camilia, and Car Hopp completed the field. Sj Illusive N Shady, Vvr Let It Ride and Y O At A Glance were scratched.
