GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–SEPTEMBER 14, 2024–Two-time Grade 2 winner Dk Marney Jess kept her perfect record intact Saturday night when she rolled to a 1-1/2 length win and the fastest qualifying time from 13 trials contested for the Grade 2 $432,990 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Lone Star Park on Saturday, October 5 , vying for the winner's share of a purse valued at $179,196, going a distance of 400 yards.
Dk Marney Jess stumbled initially but quickly recovered under regular rider Nestor Duran to win by 1-1/2 lengths. The daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess clocked the 400 yards in 19.492 seconds, earning a 101-speed index into a 6 mph crosswind.
Leading trainer Juan Diaz, Jr. saddled Dk Marney Jess to her sixth consecutive win for owner CH Horse Racing, LLC. Cuadra La Presita bred the bay filly in Mexico from the Corona Cartel mare Marney Jo, a sister to two-time champion Kvn Corona and Grade 1 winner Big Lew.
Dk Marney Jess won the Grade 2 Louisiana Downs Futurity in March and the Grade 2 Sam Houston Futurity in June, earning $454,150.
Ruidoso Triple Crown-winning trainer Toby Keeton sent out Hocksareback to win the second trial for his wife, Cindi Keeton. Runner-up to Dk Marney Jess in the Sam Houston Futurity Hocksareback has won two consecutive races, including a three-quarter length win in his Dash For Cash Futurity trial tonight, securing the second fastest clocking of 19.554 seconds, a 98-speed index.
Luis Vivanco had the riding call aboard the $65,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate by Kiss My Hocks. Sissie and Bob McClure bred the $145,622 earner in Texas from the Splash Bac mare Thebabeisback.
Diaz saddled half the field for the Dash For Cash Futurity(G2) final, including TQHA Sale Sires' Cup Futurity(RG2) winner Machiavelli to the third fastest time; TQHA Sale Futurity(RG1) runner-up Kiss My Maruska, fourth fastest; TQHA Sale Futurity(RG1) Joose Boxx, seventh-fastest; and multiple stakes finalist Marfalous, eighth-fastest.
