ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 15, 2024–Multiple stakes placed Docs Blazin Gal put the icing on the cake for trainer Kylie Valenzuela today when she won the last of seven trials and posted the fastest qualifying time for the Wyoming Bred Derby at Sweetwater Downs.
The ten fastest qualifiers will return to the Rock Springs, Wyoming racetrack on Saturday, September 28, to vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-added purse at a distance of 350 yards.
Jockey Jesus Valenzuela booted Docs Blazin Gal to a 1-1/2 length win while clocking 17.625 seconds over the 350 yards, a 91-speed index, the day's fastest clocking.
Racing for owner-breeder Pedro Mena, the daughter of multiple stakes sire Docs Best Card, has won six of nine career starts and earned $70,289. She is out of the First Moonflash mare Blazin Mean.
Docs Blazin Gal was second in the Wyoming Downs Derby in her previous start and second in the Wyoming Bred Derby at Energy Downs and the Hadley-Giles Futurity at Weber Downs.
Trainer Kylie Valenzuela qualified half-the-field for the Wyoming Bred Derby, including 7th fastest Jets Eyes, 8th fastest Jump The Gun, 9th fastest Lt Gun Runner, and 10th fastest Swift And Fast.
