Whiskey Diva Much The Best In Memorial Stakes at Grants Pass Sunday

GRANTS PASS, OR–SEPTEMBER 15, 2024–Bouncing off a troubled finish in the Grants Pass Championship Challenge trial earlier this month, Whiskey Diva was a one-length winner in the $11,200 Memorial Stakes (not black type) today at Grants Pass Downs.

Under jockey Jake Samuels, Whiskey Diva ran a straight, strong course while completing the 350 yards in 17.450, a 96-speed index.

Trainer
Freddy Ibarra saddled the 4-year-old son of champion sire Hes Relentless to his sixth career win in 16 starts for owner Francisco Ruiz. He picked up $5,600 for the effort.

Michael McKay and Pat Vanpelt bred Whiskey Diva in Oregon. The bay filly is out of Fergilicious by Volcom and has earned $36,306.

Runner-up Warhock took home $2,800 for finishing second. Trainer Benito Curiel named jockey Jaime Lopez to ride the son of Zoomin For Bux for owner Malon Cowgill. Hayden Brothers Ranch bred the multiple stakes winner from the Corona Cartel mare Copa Show Girl. The 12-time winner has earned $102,280.

Jose Luis Torres owned and trained L Bar D Rosie Lee, who was a neck back to earn $1,344 for third. Jose Lopez rode the Hawkinson mare out of Be First Rose by Ought To Be First. Darrell and Linda Sanders bred the stake-placed earner of $23,691.

Marcelino, Senorita Frogs, and Jbc Morning Star complete the field.
