Stakes Winner Rf Livies Buckshot Clocks Fastest Time To Speedhorse P&A Championship Futurity

CLAREMORE, OK–OCTOBER 20, 2024–Rf Livies Buckshot is on his way to scoring his second stakes victory this season after winning his trial heat and clocking the fastest qualifying time to the $50,000-estimated Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Championship Futurity [G1] at Will Rogers Downs on Sunday.

Leading APHA trainer Dee Keener named jockey Jesus Salazar to ride Rf Livies Buckshot in trial one of two at the Oklahoma track. Favored to win, he led the field from gate-to-wire, clocking an 86 speed index with a five mph crosswind. The 400-yard victory paid $3.60 to win on 4-5 odds.

Rf Livies Buckshot set the time to beat in 20.251 seconds, defeating Rebecca Jean and rider Bryan Candanosa by a 1/2 length. Rebecca Jean clocked the second fastest time in 20.317 seconds.

Rf Livies Buckshot has earned $37,078 for his owner, 918 Bloodstock, who currently tops the charts for leading APHA owners by wins in 2024. The sorrel colt has four wins from nine starts, including the Speedhorse P&A Juvenile [G1] at Fair Meadows. He was also a finalist in the Grade 1 Oklahoma P&A Futurity at Remington Park.

Marvin and Pam Wilcox bred the son of the #2 leading APHA sire in the nation, Painted Turnpike in Oklahoma. Rf Livies Buckshot is out of Rf Livies Special by Desirio.

Top APHA trainer Matt Whitekiller saddled runner-up Rebecca Jean for leading owner of APHA stakes wins Bryan Hawk. The daughter of #1 APHA sire CRM Livewire has yet to break her maiden with 2 seconds and one third from four starts. Sam Howard and KD Thompson bred her out of Fast Prize Molly by Pyc Paint Your Wagon in Oklahoma.

The winner of trial two was Chief Iron Eagle, the only Appaloosa to make it back to the finals, clocking the third-fastest qualifying time. Trainer Luis Villafranco called on Mario Delgado to pilot the son of #2 leading ApHC sire Gray Chief to his victory. He clocked an 82-speed index in 20.411 seconds, winning by a head over Back Spin.

Jose Vicente Robles Silva bred and owns Chief Iron Eagle in Oklahoma. He has lit the board seven of eight starts with three victories and $70,840 in the bank, including the Cricket Bar Appaloosa Futurity in September.
