$15,000 Heritage September Graduate Preying N Sinning Breaks Maiden In $50,000 West Texas Juvenile

SUNLAND PARK, NM—APRIL 5, 2025—One of the last yearlings to sell last September at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City, Preying N Sinning more than paid for himself after breaking his maiden in the 20th running of the $50,000-Guaranteed West Texas Juvenile at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

Preying N Sinning put in a late run under jockey Christian Cardenas to get his first career win in two starts. The son of first-crop sire champion Dulce Sin Tacha completed the 300-yard task in 15.343 seconds, an 87-speed index into a 13 mph crosswind.

Alberto Amparan trains and is the co-owner with 93 Ranch of the 2-year-old colt from the Pantheon Mountain mare Prey. The  $15,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate is a half-brother to Grade 1 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship winner Preyn Onthe Mountain.

Preying N Sinning earned $23,500 to boost his earnings to $25,280. He finished second in his career debut, a West Texas Futurity trial on March 16.

La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC's homebred Carson Cartel sprinted clear before getting caught to finish second under jockey Luis Martinez. Xavier E. Rodriguez trains the gelded son of Bogart from the Big Daddy Cartel mare Daddys Cartel. He earned $9,000 for the effort.

Kas He Tells You, a son of leading second-crop sire Tell Cartel, was three/quarters back to earn $5,500 for third. Trainer Juan Hernandez tapped jockey Jorge Garcia to ride the Texas-bred for owners Oscar Rios, Jr., and Francisco Javier Garza. The homebred is out of Beaukas by Make It Anywhere.

True Airspeed, Pr Apollitical Dash, A Twisted Cowgirl, Candied Egg, Jess Famous Candy, Rock Star Martini, and Flashin Magic completed the field.
