FARMINGTON, NM–MAY 9, 2025–My First Luv raced to her second consecutive stakes victory at SunRay Park on Friday when she defeated Lookin For Cartel in the $81,000 restricted Grade 3 Jimmy Drake Stakes for 3-year-old and up accredited New Mexico-breds.
Owner-trainer Joel Gutierrez tapped jockey Brian Barraza to ride the 3-year-old daughter of champion sire First Moonflash, from the Walk Thru Fire mare Desperate Love, to a half-length victory. My First Luv completed the 350 yards in 17.130 seconds, equaling a 101 speed index into a five mph crosswind.

After winning the New Mexico Breeders Stakes (RG3) in her last start April 18, My First Luv secured her fourth career win in 12 starts today. The $48,600 winner's purse brings her earnings total to $190,820. Mark and Fay Annett McCloy are the breeders.
The runner-up, Lookin for Cartel, earned $16,200 under jockey Jesse Levario for securing second place. Adrian Alvarez trains the 5-year-old Big Daddy Cartel gelding for owner Omar Viramontes Najar. Denton Crozier bred the bay gelding from the Feature Mr Jess mare Jess Look Both Ways. Multiple stakes-placed, Lookin For Cartel has earned $142,134.
Multiple graded stakes winner Rc Corona King rallied under jockey Sergio Dominguez to finish a nose back in third. Gerardo Quinonez trains the 5-year-old Eye Am King gelding for owner Jose Riojas. The third-place payday, worth $8,100, increased RC Corona King's earnings to $424,009. Baldemar Parra bred the gelding from the Deefirst mare Classyoddsofdeefirst.
Jesses Wish, Ez On My Mind, Jest En King, Flash Divine, Big Posies Cartel, J Y Jaaziel, and Apollitical Jackie completed the field.
