SELMA, TX–JUNE 26, 2025–Longshot Jackson Davis 747 delivered a thrilling upset Thursday evening at Retama Park, edging out race favorite Vp Dash For Texas in a dramatic photo finish to win the $11,500 TPHBA Paint Horse Juvenile Stakes (not black type).

Jackson Davis 747 surged at the wire to secure his first career stakes victory over a muddy track with a 5 mpy headwind. The son of Chilitos (QH) won the 330-yard feature for Paint horses in a final time of 17.175 seconds, earning a speed index of 91.

Breaking first from post 4, Jackson Davis 747 was immediately engaged in a fierce stretch-long battle with Vp Dash For Texas and Chieftainess. Guided by jockey Eliazar Vera, the Manuel Roman trainee prevailed by a nose, while Vp Dash For Texas held off Chieftainess by a 1/2-length for the place spot.

Bred in Texas by Courtney Watson, Jackson Davis 747 is out of Shes a Cartel Girl, by The Louisiana Cartel. The victory marked his second win from four starts and boosted his career earnings to $15,759 for owners Tonya and Val Gonzalez.

Jackson Davis 747 was coming off a troubled sixth-place finish earlier this month in the Colors Of Houston Futurity at Sam Houston Race Park. Sent off at long odds of 30-to-1, the winning effort returned $63.80 on a $2 win wager.

Runner-up Vp Dash For Texas, bred and owned by Dr. Victor Villarreal, is out of Gw Money Dash, sired by Dr. Beduino. Ridden by Luis L. Vivanco and trained by Alex Villarreal, this son of Pyc Prize Time achieved a speed index of 90 with a time of 17.182 seconds in his career debut.

Finishing third was Chieftainess, also by Chilitos. The Texas-bred filly is out of Chief Lark by Chief Corona, and was bred, owned, and trained by Mario G. Rodriguez. Ridden by Victor Urieta Jr., she crossed the wire in 17.263 seconds for a speed index of 88 in her first career start.

Following the top three, Mrs Pyc Painted Nova finished fourth, with Wl Post Malone fifth, Just an Eagle sixth, Fourcrossnews seventh, Cholulaa eighth, Crb Wagon Shaker ninth, and Miss Nely completing the field in tenth.
