EDMONTON, CAN–AUGUST 2, 2025–Hot Cerveza emerged as the fastest qualifier from two trials held Saturday at Century Mile for the upcoming $57,555(CAN) Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity, setting the bar with a dominant 17.480 clocking at 300 yards.
The restricted event is open to 2-year-old Quarter Horses sired by participating stallions, with the final scheduled for Sunday, August 16.
Owned by Jerry Stojan and trained by William H. Leech, Hot Cerveza proved the best in his debut in the first of two trials, drawing away under jockey Ricardo Moreno to win by 1¾ lengths.

The bay gelding by first-crop sire Cerveza Corona is out of Getit Hot, a daughter of Walk Thru Fire, and was bred in Alberta by Charles G. Stojan. Breaking alertly and asserting command early, Hot Cerveza was never threatened while coasting to the wire in the day's top qualifying time.
In the second trial, Snow Boss rallied from off the pace to narrowly edge out One Tough Cerveza by a head, clocking the second-fastest time of the afternoon in 17.592.
The brown gelding is sired by multiple stakes sire Jd Wagon Boss and out of Northfork Snow by A Regal Choice. Snow Boss is owned by Commotion Creek Contracting and WT Ranches, Ltd., trained by Buckey A. Stockwell, and was bred in Alberta by K Glenn Wills. It was the first win in four starts for the gelding, a finalist in the John Deere Century Mile Juvenile Challenge and the Sale Stakes Futurity. Snow Boss has earned $8,966.
Jockey O. Amador Hernandez guided the colt through a determined stretch drive to secure the victory by the slimmest of margins.
One Tough Cerveza, a gelded son of Cerveza Corona out of Toughie by Stel Corona, earned the third-fastest qualifying time of 17.604 for owners Barry and Janice Sather.
The Alberta-bred juvenile, also bred by Charles G. Stojan, is trained by Misael Moreno and was ridden by Daniel Tavares. Showing good early foot from the rail post, One Tough Cerveza drifted out midway but gamely held on to secure a spot in the final. Winless in four starts, he was third in the Sale Stakes Futurity two races back.
The Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity offers a total purse of $57,555(CAN).
