FREDERICKSBURG, TX–AUGUST 23, 2025–Just an Eagle broke his maiden in style Saturday, springing a 12/1 upset to capture the $30,000 G.C.F.A. Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile at Gillespie County Fair.
Taking the lead at first call, Just An Eagle surged through the 330-yard dash under jockey Raul Hernandez Jr. to stop the clock in 17.022 seconds, earning a 97 speed index. The victory was worth $11,400 to owner Jesus A. Molina and returned $29.00 to win.
Trained by Janessa Lee Muniz, Just an Eagle is by This Is an Eagle. He is out of Just Splashin, by Awesome Chrome, and was bred in Texas by Sandra Garnett. From six starts, he has a record of 1-1-1 with $17,105 in earnings. He was a finalist earlier this season in both the Colors of Houston Paint & Appaloosa Futurity (G2) and the TPHBA Paint Horse Juvenile.
Runner-up Wl Post Malone delivered a strong late kick under jockey Gilberto Linares to finish just a head behind the winner. Zackery Rios trains the Oklahoma-bred son of CRM Livewire for owners and breeders Wade and Susan Leggett. He is out of Cl Trap Queen, a daughter of SF Royal Quick Flash.
From eight career starts, the Wl Post Malone has compiled two wins and one second with $20,825 in earnings. He, too, was a finalist earlier this season in the PSBA American Paint & Appaloosa Classic Futurity (G1), Colors of Houston Paint & Appaloosa Futurity (G2, and the TPHBA Paint Horse Juvenile.
Making her career debut, Marys Blue Diamond ran a determined race to finish third under jockey Adrian Morales. The Texas-bred filly is owned and bred by Omar Paredes, who also conditions her. She is by Chilitos and out of La Blue Angel, a daughter of Walk Thru Fire.
Chieftainess, Memories of Texas Two, Chile Piquin, Miss Nely, Fourcrossnews, Dashing Chilita, and Hawk Tuah completed the order of finish.
