SHELBYVILLE, IN–AUGUST 30, 2025– It was a day of upsets Saturday, August 30 at Horseshoe Indianapolis during Quarter Horse Stakes Day. The surprises continued in the day’s final race as Streakindownthebeach stretched out in the 17th running of the $84,000 Bob Woodard Memorial Classic, scoring his first win at the 400-yard distance.

Streakindownthebeach and Eduardo Diaz began from the outside post six in the petite field of older horses with defending champion Tachas Secret and Jorge Torres beginning from post three. Out of the gate, crowding was happening on the inside and Tachas Secret was pinched back.

Streakindownthebeach had a clear cut path on the outside and got the jump on the inside horses. He put in a strong effort all the way to the wire for the win by a nose over Jess A Riot and Edgar Diaz, Eduardo’s older brother. Cisco Beach and L. Daniel Martinez held down third from the inside in the dash timed in :19.918.

The five-year-old gelding paid $6.60 for the win as the third favorite in the race. It was his fourth win in six starts this season and third in a row for his connections. He increased his bankroll to nearly $240,000 and earned his eighth trip to the winner’s circle from 29 starts. He was zero for six in his attempts running at 400 yards.

“We had him double entered this week (earlier in the Julie Veltman Overnight Stakes) and we decided to give him a shot in here,” noted Eggleston about the move up to 400 yards. “He had a good two-year-old year and was decent at three and four, but he’s been awesome this year.”

Eggleston had an incredible day of racing, with a triple win score and two were in stakes competition. Words can’t explain this day. I want to thank all the guys from the barn, and the ones at the farm that are here today that don’t get the chance to get any credit. They all work very hard, and they deserve just as much credit as everyone else for the wins today.”

Eggleston completed the day with three wins on the day. Eduardo Diaz scored his first ever four-win day, including the win aboard Streakindownthebeach.

“It’s my first time to win four races in one day,” said Eduardo Diaz via translation from Quarter Horse Guest Analyst Louie Rabaut, who speaks seven languages. “It’s all the horses. They do all the work.”

Streakindownthebeach, a grey son of Habits Secret, is owned by Buddy Presley and was a product of the 2021 QHRAI Speed Sale where he was acquired for $26,750. One has to go back to last August to find a race where the gelding was not in the top two finishers of his races.

“I didn’t know about how he’d do at 400 yards, but the jockey and trainer had confidence,” said Presley. “He proved he could run it today. I think he will head to the Classic (Hoosier Park Classic in October) now.”

Bred by Edward Pennington of Indiana, Streakindownthebeach is out of Beach Runner by Escondido Beach. He is a $26,750 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction sale graduate.

Runner-up Jess A Riot, ridden by Edgar Diaz, earned her second blacktype score of the season, coming off a third place finish in the Horseshoe Indianapolis Classic Stakes on August 7. Bred and owned by Ted Harpold, the four-year-old filly is out of Mitey Victoria by Mighty Invictus. Claudio Barraza trained the daughter of Jess Zoomin who has earned $85,105 with two wins from 14 starts.

Luz Martinez piloted Cisco Beach to his third-place finish for owners Pamela Brickley Hann and Graig Zeneberg. Duane Swingley bred the four-year-old gelding out of Tru Lee Quick by La Jollaroid.

The son of Escondido Beach has lit the board 13 of 20 starts with six wins and $151,622 in the bank. Cisco Beach placed second in the Air Born Leader Overnight Stakes, third in the Easys Night Beat Overnight Stakes and was a finalist in the Born Runner Classic Stakes earlier this season.

Nachor Secret, Ap Miss Lunas Tide and Tachas Secret complete the order of finish.
