VINTON, LA–AUGUST 30, 2025–Dropping Dimes went straight to the front and never looked back to earn the first stakes victory of his career in Saturday’s $50,000 Treme Derby Stakes at Delta Downs.
The 3-year-old gelding by Apollitical Blood covered the 350 yards in 17.583 seconds, earning a 96 speed index under jockey Jorge Garcia. The win was worth $30,000 for owner Jaime Cardenas and pushed his bankroll to $102,513.

Bred in Louisiana by Ryan and Danielle Robicheaux, Dropping Dimes is out of the Freighttrain B mare Depositing Chex. He is trained by Miguel Castillo and came into the race off a runner-up finish in the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby-RG3 in July had previously qualified for the LQHBA Louisiana Million Invitational Stakes during his freshman season.
Rf Imperial Choice, who has competed in nine different stakes events, finally earned her first black type by finishing second in the Treme Derby. The daughter of Imperial Hint (TB) is out of Rdd Obvious Choice, by Heza Fast Dash, and was bred in Louisiana by Tim and Jennie Rogers of Rogers Farm.
The filly is owned and trained by Ismael Solis-Guevara, and was a $10,500 purchase from the 2023 LQHBA Yearling Sale. Rf Imperial Choice has been a consistent finalist this year in the Esplanade Stakes, Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks, Mothers Day Stakes, and Mardi Gras Oaks. The runner-up effort added $10,000 to her account, lifting her bankroll to $117,247.
Perry Midnight Train rallied for third, a neck behind the runner-up, under jockey Ubaldo Luna. The son of Freighttrain B is out of Midnight Swingin, by Mr Jess Perry, and was bred in Louisiana by Desormeaux Gotreaux LLC. He races for owner Ricardo Ramos and is trained by Roberto Madrigal. A $19,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate, he has three wins in nine starts and earned $5,500 to push his total to $72,941.
The remaining order of finish was Xdw Jess a Rogue, Gold Gun Z, Ace Trains R Forever, Captain Eagle, G Amtrak B, One Sweet Tsunami, and Nbc Mr Booz.
