VINTON, LA–AUGUST 30, 2025–A stunning 51-1 upset unfolded Saturday night at Delta Downs when Mr Pot Scraper broke his maiden in the $50,000 LQHBA Sale Juvenile Stakes.
Mr Pot Scraper, who trailed in second the entire trip, made a late rally in the final stretch under jockey Randy Edison Jr. to hit the wire first by a half-length. The sorrel gelding covered the 350-yard distance in 17.923 seconds, earning an 86 speed index for owner Marquis Watson and trainer David Bustamante.
The victory added $30,000 to his bankroll, giving him one win from five career starts and total earnings of $30,705. The longshot’s victory returned a massive $118.00 to win on a $2 ticket.

Bred in Louisiana by Darling Farms LLC, Mr Pot Scraper is by Mr Piloto. He is out of the Game Patriot mare Rios Dashing Patriot.
Runner-up Sl Watchme Zoom broke first from the gates and held the lead most of the way before being caught late, finishing a ½-length behind in second. The bay gelding, by San Lorenzo, is trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr. for owner Stephen Williams and was ridden by Ubaldo Luna.
Bred by Jim and Natalie Montgomery, Sl Watchme Zoom is out of Miss Zoomin Lady by Apollitical Jess. A $37,000 purchase at the 2024 LQHBA Yearling Sale, he picked up $10,000 for the effort and earned his first black type from four starts.
Ebony James closed well to earn third under jockey Pedro Espinosa, in a photo finish by a nose with the runner-up. The bay son of Ivory James races for owner Fausto Mendoza under trainer John Norwood Jr.
Bred in Louisiana by Barry Fontenot, Ebony James is out of JLS Carters Reb by Favorite Cartel. A $40,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale purchase, he has yet to break his maiden in five starts but now sports $12,950 in earnings.
Juneteenth, Ceds Fast One, Atta Boy Slim, Jessa Famous Bandido, Hehasfaith, and One Sweet Texan completed the order of finish.
