CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 2, 2025—Racys Pilot proved best in Sunday’s $24,000 OQHRA Fall Classic at Will Rogers Downs, scoring an impressive wire-to-wire victory in the 400-yard stakes for three-year-olds and up.
With a 10 mph tailwind aiding the field, the five-year-old bay gelding surged clear early under jockey Jaime Mata and held firm through the stretch to win by a half-length in 20.042 seconds, earning a 91 speed index over a fast track.
Bred and owned by Double A Ranch of Oklahoma, Racys Pilot is a son of Paint My Pilot out of She Looks Racy, by First Down Dash. The Rodrigo Covarrubias trainee showed sharp early speed and never relinquished his advantage, securing the $15,570 winner’s share of the $26,500 purse.
A 2025 Heritage Place Mixed Sale repurchase for $70,000, Racys Pilot continues to score his first career stakes victory with a strong stakes performance for his connections. Picking up his eighth career win in 23 starts, Racy Pilot has earned $148,652.
Just A Flyin Cowgirl, a four-year-old filly by Flying Cowboy 123 out of Just Another Natural by Furyofthewind, finished second after a determined late bid. Ridden by David Alvarez Jr. and trained by Joe Davis for owner McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC, the Texas-bred filly closed well but could not match the winner’s finishing kick, earning $4,690 for her effort.
Bred by T.C. Flack, Just A Flyin Cowgirl won the Raysha's Run - Racing For A Cure Stakes, was second in the Sweetwater Downs Maturity and Energy Downs Maturity, and third in the Miss Ellen Stakes this season. She has earned $112,052.
Nay Borhood Nipsey, a four-year-old filly by Lil Kool Wagon out of Hooked On Disco by Hooked On Cash, finished third for owner-breeder Cornell Burkhalter of Oklahoma.
Trained by T. Alexander and ridden by Roman Cruz, she stumbled at the start but recovered gamely, rallying in the final yards to miss the place by a neck and earn $2,855. She has banked $81,620 in 17 career starts.
