HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 23, 2025—Bigg Picture delivered a commanding performance to capture the restricted Grade 1 $200,000 Namehimastreaker New Mexico Classic Quarter Horse Championship on Sunday afternoon at Zia Park, covering the 440 yards in 21.534 and earning a 96 speed index while battling through a stiff 12-mph crosswind on a fast racing surface.

Breaking sharply and engaging early, the 4-year-old gray gelding edged clear late to win by 1¼ lengths for owner Uno Menos, trainer Wesley Giles, and jockey Noe Garcia, Jr.

Bred in New Mexico by MJ Farms, Bigg Picture is a son of leading New Mexico sire Big Daddy Cartel out of the champion mare Astica, by Jesse James Jr., and earned $115,200 for the victory, boosting his earnings to $383,609. The winner was purchased for $120,000 at the 2022 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

The Calling closed strongly after encountering trouble at the break, bumping early, drifting, and then weaving through traffic as he mounted a determined late gain to finish second.

Owned by Javier M. Chavez and trained by Jose DeHerrera, the 6-year-old gray gelding was ridden by Jorge Nieto-Saenz. The son of Big Daddy Cartel out of Fine Wines, by First Down Dash, was bred by MJ Farms and earned $38,400 for his runner-up effort. Multiple graded stakes winner Pavel, improving throughout after a bump at the start, rallied into contention and held gamely to finish third for owner Francisco Hernandez, trainer David Gomez-Barraza, and jockey Sergio Becerra, Jr.

The 3-year-old bay gelding is by Czar Cartel MV and out of Camelia, by Tempting Dash, and was bred by MRB Racing LLC. A $6,000 purchase from the 2023 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale, Pavel earned $19,200 for his effort and was beaten only a head for second. He has earned $377,890 in 15 starts.
