Dropping Dimes Captures Miss Polly Classic (G3) in Final Strides at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA–APRIL 24, 2026–Dropping Dimes captures the $50,000 Miss Polly Classic Stakes (G3) on Friday night at Delta Downs, getting up in the final strides of the 400-yard event to secure his second career stakes victory and earn $30,000 for the effort.

Breaking from the outside post, Dropping Dimes broke a step slow but began to unwind through the lane under jockey Jorge Javier Garcia. The black gelding closed steadily and caught the leader at the wire, stopping the clock in 19.910 seconds into a 5 mph crosswind while earning a 95 speed index. He prevailed by a head in a tightly contested finish over pacesetter Jj Jessa Dynasty, who had led from the break.

Owned by Jaime Cardenas and trained by Josue Ponce, the son of Apollitical Blood now owns a record of 16 starts with 7 wins, 2 seconds, and 1 third, banking $150,813. This marked his first start of the season and his second career stakes victory.

He previously captured the Treme Derby Stakes in 2025, finished second in the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby-G3, and was a finalist in the Louisiana Champions Day Derby-G3 and the LQHBA Louisiana Million Invitational.

Dropping Dimes was bred in Louisiana by Ryan and Danielle Robicheaux out of Depositing Chex by Freighttrain B. He was a $70,000 repurchase at the 2026 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.

Jj Jessa Dynasty held command for much of the race but was overtaken at the wire, settling for second after setting the pace throughout. Ridden by Randy Edison Jr., the gray filly stopped the clock in 19.929 seconds, also earning a 95 speed index, and finished one length clear of the rest while just a head shy of victory.

She races for Jorge Alan Bazaldua Jr. and Jose Carrizales, who also trains her. Bred in Texas by J & J Stables LLC, the daughter of Jj Jess an Meteorite is out of Jb Chic Dynasty by FDD Dynasty.

From 25 starts, she has compiled 6 wins, 7 seconds, and 5 thirds while earning $99,928. An eight-time stakes finalist, she recorded her third black type score here, adding to prior placings that include a second in the De Saix Stakes and a third in the TQHA 250 Stakes.

Jd Heza Paintedeagle completed the trifecta with a steady finish just behind the top pair. Under jockey Ubaldo Luna, he stopped the clock in 20.084 seconds and posted a 91 speed index, finishing 1 1/2 lengths behind the runner-up.  

Owned by B Family Ventures and trained by Fernando Lopez, the bay gelding was bred in Oklahoma by JD IV Farms LLC. The son of One Famous Eagle is out of Jess a Painted Wagon by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.

A $23,000 purchase at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, he now has 20 starts with 3 wins, 2 seconds, and 7 thirds, earning $59,360. He is a five-time stakes finalist, including a third-place finish in the Albuquerque Juvenile Stakes, and has also been a finalist in the Firecracker Futurity-G3, Old South Derby, and Big Easy Futurity.

One Sweet Boss, Lrh Jess Shake It Up, El Turista, San Lorenzo Princess, and Leaving Coyame completed the order of finish.
